Austin Healy on Hull

This March 18th, 1959 photograph of an Austin Healy on Hull Street is pretty darn cool!

The building shown in the 1959 photograph at 1200-1202 Hull Street no longer remains, but all of the other structures in the photograph have survived. The furniture store building at 1204-1206 Hull Street is unrecognizable given the stucco that has been placed over the historic facade. That stucco is in the process of being removed however, as the renovation of 1204-1206 is currently underway. The building will soon look like it once did, after it is fully restored.

The photograph is being taken from the sidewalk directly in front of the Manchester Thalhimers Department Store that once stood at 1207-1209 Hull Street. A photograph of the old Hull Street Thalhimers (known previously as The Baldwin Building, and later became a vintage bookstore) was recently featured in The Richmond Times-Dispatch.
