So who else is tired of waiting to go for a Dam Walk?!?! News by Michael C. Hild - January 7, 2016January 28, 201635 What’s a guy have to do around here to go for a Dam Walk? For all the talk of building a walkway that connects Brown’s Island to Manchester going all the way back to 2008, and loudly trumpeted that it would be completed before the 2015 UCI races, I sure don’t see any Dam action. To say things have been slow to move, even by Richmond standards, is putting it lightly. This isn’t good news when considering the amount of Holiday sweets I stuffed down my gullet and the resulting size of my post New Year’s belt-line. I need a Dam Walk. Stat! The last official announcement from the city in September of 2015 was that Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. was selected to do the work and that construction would start in the fall of 2015. The city stated that the project would finally be finished by August of 2016. Despite the last announcement, I sure as heck don’t see any Dam progress. And that’s a Dam shame. The Dam Walk is one of the most exciting outdoor public works projects in Richmond for a Dam long while. So if you are as anxious as I am to see this project completed, please like and share this post with all your friends. Maybe we can get the city to take some Dam action on this awesome project!

Not to worry! Instead of going on a Dam walk, you can just take a stroll to the grocery store. Oh, wait….. Reply
They have stared working on southbank access to the walkway. Go to the Manchester wall and look to the left. You can see they have been working on it. Reply
I am going to hike down there and see if I can get a photograph the access work. That is a wonderful sign if they have finally started at least that portion of the project! Reply
They’ve been working on it since the summer. They had to clear out a lot of brush to get access to the south end of the bridge. Reply
Lots of work underway, moving from South Bank to North!, incl. repairs to several of the piers in the water. Reply
Go here: http://www.richmondgov.com/PlanningAndDevelopmentReview/RiverfrontPlan.aspx and look at “What’s New” and Pictures of Construction Progress…those will be updated as we get them from the contractor. Enjoy! Reply
