POLL: Would You Vote for Doug Wilder If He Ran for Mayor Again This November? Ankle Biter by Michael C. Hild - February 8, 2016February 14, 201697 Former City of Richmond Mayor and Governor of Virginia, Douglas Wilder, ceased his silence and publicly admonished Mayor Dwight Jones in an opinion piece posted in The Richmond Times-Dispatch this past weekend entitled: “No more silence about the state of the city“. Wilder voiced his frustration with the city’s current state of disarray in the piece, especially its finances. He ended his thoughts with the following statement: “Fortunately, this administration is coming to an end. The citizens of Virginia’s capital city are left to wonder what follows. It is not for the weak or timid, but change has to take place … and that will be hard work and tenuous”. Yikes, that sounds like a man who is clearly frustrated with the current direction, or lack thereof, of city government. The vast majority of Richmond agrees with Doug Wilder’s sentiment. In fact, only 34% think Richmond is moving in the right direction according to a recent survey conducted by the City Auditor’s office and as Reported by the Richmond Times-Dispatch. So here is the big question: Will Doug Wilder consider another possible run for Mayor this November? And more importantly: Would Richmonders consider voting for Doug Wilder again? It’s already a packed field of possible contenders as seen in our recent Mayoral candidate poll. The poll suggests the race might come down to a neck and neck battle between Levar Stoney and Jon Baliles.
