NBC 12: Richmond officer gets backlash for trimming overgrown trees News by Michael C. Hild - September 1, 201646 NBC 12’s Kelly Avellino contacted us regarding the story of a Richmond police officer who was trimming overgrown trees on Hull Street between calls. She interviewed us and got a statement from the RPD demonstrating their and the community’s overwhelming support for the officer. Apparently the citizen who filed the complaint against the officer for doing the tree trimming rather than more traditional police work is in the very small minority. You can see the news story below titled “Richmond officer gets backlash for trimming overgrown trees.” RPD, keep up the great work in Manchester!

Great initiative by police officer Wade. He’s a veteran officer from what I have learned. He knows the town and his responsibilities as a sworn officer. I would bet he would have corresponded immediately to any call had he been dispatched. Doesn’t sound like he was derelict in his duties in any way. And one more thing for the complainant, sorry if he did not meet his jay-walking ticket quota for that day. As they say…..no good deed goes unpunished. smdh Reply
I think complainers get way too much attention thanks to the internet. This was just one person… but at least the officer is getting the credit he very much deserves for going above and beyond. Reply
The officer is taking responsibility for something that needs tidying up in his city. How can that be wrong?? Sounds like a great guy! Reply
