Dogtown Brewing Grand Opening This Saturday News by Michael C. Hild - July 26, 2019July 26, 20195 Dogtown Brewing is set to host its official Grand Opening this Saturday, July 27th starting at 11am! The brewery and restaurant features a food menu designed to pair with beer, an initial set of 8 craft beers (soon to be expanded to a full lineup of 20) brewed by 20 year veteran Brewmaster Ben Spencer, and Richmond’s retro Climax Sodas…all made in house. The beers are served “tank to tap” avoiding the need for kegging and increasing quality/freshness as a result. This is no small feat of engineering considering the beers are piped up 4 stories to the rooftop bar in glycol chilled lines. For those not into beer, the Dogtown Brewing brewpub also offers wine, cider, and kombucha on tap. Food service is available both at the first floor beer hall, as well as on the rooftop. Reservations are available at the Dogtown Brewing website for those who want guaranteed table service or are bringing a large group. The brewpub and rooftop are open regularly starting Saturday, July 27th for the following hours: Saturday – Sunday 11am – 10pm, Monday Closed, Tuesday – Friday 4pm – 10pm. If the Dogtown Beer and Taco Festival this past Saturday was any indication, the Grand Opening should be busy this weekend. Folks seemed interested in checking out not only the beers, but the development itself. The Dogtown Brewing project is a large multi-phase project consisting of renovating the turn of the century Baldwin Building, originally home to the H.V. Baldwin & Co (a dry goods store), and later becoming a Thalhimer’s department store in 1958. The building has been sitting vacant for decades until its conversion into a mixed use building consisting of 12 apartments, a 1st floor beer hall with a mezzanine game room, a two story brewhouse at the rear, and a 4th story rooftop bar with 360 degree views overlooking southside and downtown Richmond. Hope you are able to come check out Dogtown Brewing and greater Manchester this weekend. The neighborhood is brimming with an exciting mix of new projects and businesses that are coming online for both residents and visitors alike to enjoy! Photo Credit: Richmond Grid
