It’s the day I saw 100 Manchester RVA Trees Planted! I watched as an entire community came together. Black. White. Asian. Latino. Straight. Gay. Catholic. Jewish. Muslim. Rich. Poor. Old. Young. None of those labels mattered. Saturday, April 2nd was all about the trees-and a symbol for the entire Manchester community. The collaboration was nothing short of inspiring. I have a hard time watching the following movie collage without getting a tear in my eye. So proud of everyone who pitched in to Make Manchester Great Again! Great work folks! Manchester definitely felt the love yesterday. Now lets keep the momentum rolling!

Last July/August 2015 I watered 6 or 7 trees planted (but not watered) by the City of Richmond on Porter St. … I’m a homeowner and NOBODY was contacted to ensure SOMEbody watered those poor trees planted right before the dry season! I’m so glad to see all of them are sprouting buds this week. I say this to say that I’m so glad y’all are putting up more trees … can I get a few on the north side of the west end of the 1500 block of porter? And who’s going to water the ones you just planted? I live on Bainbridge and the trees that you guys watered yesterday have been here since I moved in…who is going to continue watering them? They went like ALL of the past year without any love at all. Reply

Great idea!!! This should be done in areas all around RVA. Perhaps people can sponsor trees in certain areas? (How about the awful looking Jefferson Davis corridor? ) Reply

I wanted to help, but was out of town. I will help water the trees this summer. City planted one in front of my house on Bainbridge and equipped it with a water gator, but has never bothered to water the poor thing. Reply
