Who Would You Vote for As Richmond’s Next Mayor? Ankle Biter by Michael C. Hild - February 2, 2016February 14, 2016162 Mayor Jones’ term is due to end. We need to vote this November for Richmond’s next mayor. While it isn’t certain who is definitively running yet, we thought it would be interesting to run a poll based upon some of the possible candidates who spoke to Richmond Magazine in its November 2015 feature, “Mayorology 2016“. So cast your vote and let’s see who the winner would be if these possible candidates decide to run. Chris Hilbert Jon Baliles Jeff Bourne Lillie A. I don’t yet know enough about all of them to truly say. But definitely ‘No’ for Joe Morrisey or Delores McQuinn… Reply
I don’t remember Richmond ever being paradise but I’ll vote for you since you’re willing to take the job and you seem like a popular fella. Reply
I’ll vote for whoever quits worrying about baseball and starts paving my alley. Also, I’m running for mayor, and I hate all of you. So please vote for me. Reply
I’d just be happy if they paved the streets. Then move on to alleys. Shouldn’t take more than 10 years…. Reply
Yeah and I’m only half serious. I wouldn’t want to sully you with the political life. Jim Webb at least has kept some integrity, but you can see it’s holding him back. Reply
Well, Richmond’s level of politics is much different than the state and national levels. I’m too much of an idealist to succeed where politicians are out to make money off of citizens. Thanks for the vote Christian Briggs! Reply
I would vote for someone qualigned that cares about the city, citizens, and the school system that would be ready to improve city government. Reply
I don’t live in the city../but if i did..i would vote for Bobby Weitzel. “Keep paving, boss man Jones.” Reply
Ha, that’s the first mention for me to be Mayor. I’d put you on my staff as an enforcer, Big John. We’d get things straight. Reply
I would vote for a mayor who will fill the most important positions with qualified people instead of all his friends. We might not get spanked by every audit and evaluation if city services. Reply
It’s sad I don’t live in the city & therefore cannot vote. However the mayor of the city can affect the quality of my life Reply

Not a preacher with a private church. You know the First State of FRANKLIN settled by John Sevier had its own government. There was a law that no lawyer or preacher could hold elected positions. It was dissolved by a coo of criminal greedy war profiteering lawyers to steel the Cherokees land. Reply
Wow! Didn’t see that one coming. Thanks for the vote of confidence Jennifer! While it would be a neat idea, too many skeletons from my younger stupid days and I don’t live in the city…. By the way, did I mention I can’t stand bureaucracy? #WhyIHaveMyOwnBusiness #LittlePatienceForBS Reply
I had a feeling that you’d be against the nomination but you would still be one of my top choices ♡ Reply
Rich Hanson has already vowed to invest half of his lottery winnings to move hadads lake to the old bus depot. Reply
Good point. We will make sure to include him if we run another poll. We have added a note to the post that he might be a possible candidate and will include him on any future polls if he is still considering a run. Reply
I’d give it a try mainly to flush out the most expensive utilities in the USA! If you don’t like me, Scott Burger has focussed so much on Richmonds insane utilities that he ran a contest, anyone to find more expensive utilities in the US wins $100, nobody won yet! If not Scott I nominate Silver Persinger who has dogged them for years and it’d be nice to see the dog catch the car! Reply

Chris Hilbert is one of the most honorable men that I know, and I don’t say that frivolously, as to me, that is the most important of assets for a public servant. He is incredibly even tempered, even when I berate his fellow Univ of Tennessee slum Peyton Manning. Richmond is lucky to have him. Reply
