Urban Farmhouse on Semmes Is Closed News by Michael C. Hild - November 1, 201632 Well, that didn’t take long. Ten months after opening in January, the new Urban Farmhouse on Semmes Avenue is closed. I can’t say I’m entirely surprised. I have visited the location on multiple occasions, and on more than one instance I was the only person there. I assume that part of the business model called for the SunTrust Mortgage employees across the street to support the location in the morning and at lunch. However, that clearly did not happen. This is the second closing of an Urban Farmhouse location in the past year. The Church Hill Urban Farmhouse location also closed eight months ago.
@cunninghamle Assume it was due to lack of business. Place was always empty. https://t.co/MzQ3aIpKY1 Reply
I was wondering how long they would last there. Plant Zero was always worth the extra time in the car to get there. Reply
That was one of the most poorly managed restaurants I’ve ever visited. Employees acted like it was a hang out most of the time. It was disappointing Reply
I don’t get this chain. I guess it wants to be like Panera? I can’t ever find anything to eat at these places, but manage to drop too much cash there anyway. Reply
Went to this location for brunch once and it was horrific. They messed up almost every order and gave us expired/rotten hot sauce. Good riddance. Reply
Gave them far more chances than any business deserves. Good opportunity for another small business to do it right… Reply
I think sadly for the Manchester location they didn’t keep their posted hours. Many times we tried to go grab something to eat and it was closed but hours said it would be open. Called a couple times to order takeout – no answer then walked to subway and could see they were open. Finally gave up I can’t fight to give you business that your employees showed they didn’t care to have. I hope they pay attention to this feedback from all because it all seems fairly consistent. I went there a few times. Good coffee and breakfast sandwiches but slow service. Parking was a challenge. There was never anyone there. It’s such a shame. We need good businesses in Manchester. Reply
I’m inclined to say it’s a mix of their high prices and menu selections. I love the one in The Slip, but again, a little pricey for me. Reply
I heard from multiple people it was just not good, end-to-end. Can’t risk that kind of reputation and survive! Reply
Love the location in Chesterfield although I agree it’s a bit pricey. Even more so for the Manchester area but with Suntrust and UPs within walking distance it should have been able to make it. Service was indeed slow and parking was a bear. On a good note, it was a beautiful spot and I hope that someone moves in soon. Reply
The comments here reflect my experience, and I can’t figure out how they have managed to survive much less expand their locales. I’ve never been impressed the times I’ve eaten there. Overpriced, bland. It all seems to be about the vibe, which strikes me as contrived. Reply
They were so overpriced for such small portions! And the menu was not appetizing. I was the only person in there when I stopped by. I hope something good takes it’s place! Reply
